Very inspiring blogger award

So I’m a week into my blogging experience and I have to admit, it’s fun. It’s really fun. Fun to the extent that I pretty much check in a couple times each day just to see what’s happened in the past few hours. I love seeing that little notification icon turn orange, letting me know that someone somewhere in the world has seen what I’ve been doing here at Everything In Between.

When I checked my blog at work I was surprised to see that my friend, ‘dandelion199’, had nominated me for a very inspiring blogger award. I’d just like to say that I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of the WordPress community. With so many friendly, talented and supportive people in our mix I find myself constantly inspired to aim for more; to challenge myself; to be the best that I can by reaching my full potential and it’s so great to have a community like this behind each of us (I know, enough of the soppy stuff, right?).

Rules aren’t always meant to be broken:
1.Thank and link to the amazing person who nominated you.
2.List the rules and display the award.
3.Share seven facts about yourself.
4.Nominate 15 other amazing blogs and comment on their posts to let them know they have been nominated.
5.Proudly display the award logo on your blog and follow the blogger who nominated you.

1. ‘dandelion199’ http://dandelion199.wordpress.com
Thank-you so much for keeping up with me over this last week. I’m glad to see that you enjoy my style of writing and hope that I don’t stray too far from it!

3. Seven facts about me. Am I even that interesting?
(i) I LOVE music. Whenever I publish a post you can guarantee that I was jammin’ out to some tunes. I’m really only into Metal (there are so many sub-genres, ah!), Hard Rock, Shoegaze and for the past two years Trip Hop and Downtempo. When it comes to music it’s one extreme to the next with me. I’ve been listening to a lot of one playlist on Spotify lately: ‘Trip Hop / Downtempo‘ by Etienne Fishr.

(ii) I’m definitely not a morning person. Seriously, I wouldn’t even bother saying anything other than “Morning” to me. Not “Good Morning”, because mornings suck. I’m a night-owl 100%. I mean look at me, I’m writing this at 1am…I really should get some sleep.

(iii) I’m an (l)only child. My parents decided to stop at one after they realised how much of a pain I was. Well, that’s the joke at least. It is just a joke, right? Mum? Dad?
Growing up I always wanted an older brother – I didn’t realise that it wouldn’t work like that. I just thought that it’d be nice to share with someone. Having someone there with me through everything that I’d experienced. Someone that could teach me stuff. Hell, even a younger brother or sister. A little person that I could just pick up and move out of the way when they annoyed me too much.

(iv) I started blogging out of curiosity. It was during grade 11 and 12 of high school that I really enjoyed the process of writing. Transforming thought into word seemed to scratch my creative itch in a way that nothing else had come close to doing. I don’t think that I could write a book, I don’t think I even want to, but I had a lot of fun experimenting with different styles of writing required for assignments. I might even post some of my pieces within the near future.

I watch a few daily vloggers on YouTube and thought about taking it up myself. I decided to try blogging instead because I didn’t want people looking at me strangely as I walked around holding a camera in front of my face. That and blogging doesn’t require me going outside…for now at least.

Alright, I’m actually quite tired now.

And my neck hurts from being propped up on these pillows.

Ow

(v) One of my all-time pet peeves is spelling. Maybe grammar too. Punctuation, now there’s something that still confuses me to an extent. It frustrates me so much when people don’t know the difference between “your” and “you’re” or “to” and “too”. Like, seriously, how hard is it? I mean, you’ve had how many years to practise it? No excuses people.

(vi) I’m a sucker for good marketing. A little while ago I bought an Apple Macbook Pro (not the retina display – I’m not that naive) because it looked pretty. Apple do a fantastic job of marketing their products because they’re not just focusing on their product. Think about it, Apple is promoting a lifestyle and associating it with their products. Their products, although great, aren’t necessarily the best on the market. Take the iPhone for example, so many people buy them and think that they’re as good as it gets. I bet they didn’t even take the time shop around to outline their options. Why? Because people are sheep.

Baaaa

Yep, definitely need some sleep right now.

(vii) Lucky last! For the 7th fact about me I thought that I’d base it around something that has happened to me seven times.
I’ve had seven operations on my ears. Six sets of grommets and one eardrum reconstruction.

I don’t remember many of my early grommet operations. I suspect the trauma of having a needle stuck in me erased all memory of the event (My fears would’ve been fact 8. Heads up, I’m terrified of needles). Turns out you’re not allowed to get water in your ears when you have grommets. A hard thing to accomplish during school swimming classes and swimming carnivals, beach trips and showers. A normal person would just use some brand of ear plugs and a swimming cap. I just refused to stick my head under water. The operations over the years has resulted in my preference of going to the beach, but not in the water – I haven’t been fully submerged in water since…actually I can’t remember the last time I was fully submerged. I expect it would’ve been at school during a period in between grommets.

My eardrum reconstruction was fun (heavy sarcasm). I’ve got a scar around my ear and a story to go with it though, so I guess it’s alright.

4. Three other blogs that I’ve nominated (I guess rules are meant to be broken):

‘dandelion199’ | Just About Life http://dandelion199.wordpress.com
No matter what mood I’m in, her posts always make me chuckle if not put me in a fit of roaring laughter, making people near me question my sanity. Your posts provide a unique and authentic take on everyday occurrences in your life, keep ’em coming!

Louise Leger | Life in Poetry http://louisebleger.wordpress.com
Louise has a great talent for poetry and storytelling in general. Attacking life from various perspectives with her work, she is able to bring out emotions one would never had thought possible. Your depth of thought on the topic at hand shows in your final product. I’m eager to see what you’ll come up with next!

Jill | Ripples of Truth http://ripplesoftruth.wordpress.com/about-the-author/
Jill is a thinker. Following her belief in the importance of little things, she writes about the small moments in life that many overlook. Your collection of variously categorised posts and your casual candidness makes your blog somewhat of a home away from home, just with a completely different life. I look forward to reading about your next experience.

I know it was long-ish, but if you made it to the end congratulations! To be honest I don’t know if I’d have stuck around this long 🙂
Now I can sleep.

    • I watched him for a while, he’s so funny! The main channels that I watch are ‘dannyduncan’, ‘Travis Clark’ and ‘CTFxC’, they’re all in a band called We The Kings. I also watch a couple BFvsGF and SHAYTARDS videos.
Some other channels I keep up with:
      -Tyler Oakley
      -Rhett and Link
      -Good Mythical Morning
      -VSauce
